Recycling is available at the following businesses and locations:

Vacant lot south of Ace Hardware (first Saturday of the month)

  • newspapers (Socorro High Football Team fundraiser)
  • aluminum cans (Socorro High School Honor Society fundraiser)

Socorro Plaza (third Saturday of the month)

  • mixed papers (magazine, color paper, misc.)
  • paperboard (cereal, cracker, soda boxes, etc.)
  • white/computer/copier paper

City of Socorro Recycle Center next to UPS and the City Animal Shelter (everyday)

  • cardboard, corrugated only, break down and flatten the boxes
  • motor oil (place in plastic containers or place in 55 gallon drums)

EAPCO, Inc. (www.eapco.com or 575-835-4723)

  • all recyclables picked up at your home, for small monthly fee

Salome Recycle Center, West Church Street (weekdays until 5 pm - 575-517-9886)

  • aluminum cans
  • automotive batteries
  • brass, copper, aluminum, other metals

City of Socorro Landfill (Tuesday through Saturday – 575-835-4279)

  • tires, appliances, water heaters

Smith's and John Brooks Supermart (daily)

  • cardboard, corrugated only, break down and flatten the boxes

Smith's and Walmart (daily)

  • plastic grocery bags (and will discount $.05 off your groceries if you use your own bag)

LTJ Computers on the Plaza (Tuesday through Friday – 575-838-0576)

  • computers, printers, TVs, other electronics (no microwaves or small appliances)

Chamber of Commerce office (Monday through Friday – 575-835-0424)

  • cell phones (Socorro Consolidated Schools)
  • used printer cartridges (Rotary Club)
  • eyeglasses (Lions Club)
  • white/copier paper (Rotary Club)

Socorro Electric Cooperative (575-835-0560)

  • compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs

Leseburg’s Automotive Repair (Monday through Friday - 575-838-4101)

  • junk and salvage automobiles, with titles

Amador Complete Recycling (505-804-0793)

  • junk cars, appliances and metals

Second Hand Rose (575-835-2090) or Tiendas de Segundo Thrift store

  • accept clean used clothing, housewares, and other goods.


The Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce have free bins for the collection of beverage containers. Call the Chamber office at 575-835-0424 for more info.
